Last weekend I took my Speed Four out for the first time at the track. Despite the 100 degree temps, I had a blast. The Speed Four didn't give me any worries. I had a little trouble trusting the stock tires...but they performed just fine.

One negative thing I did notice was the too-soft fork springs. Even with the compression damping set at two clicks out, the front end had too much dive under heavy braking. I did the zip tie test, and I found the fork was very close to bottoming out.

What kind of aftermarket fork springs are you guys running for the track? I'm about 185 lbs.

Try TT600 springs.

They're heavier.

Or use the calculator at racetech.com

As long as it doesn't bottom out, it's okay. It's good to use the whole suspension travel.

But I agree S4 suspension is on the soft side. If anyone knows where to get linear springs (do Speed Triple springs fit?), let us know.

Are you using the stock springs on the track? If they've treated you fine, I'll rest easy. But I wasn't pushing too hard last weekend, and I was surprised by the amount of fork dive.

Yeah, I have stock suspension. Just get the preloads properly set and stiffen the shocks.

At least I (175lbs) got it decent by doing that. And was able to outrun new Fireblades, Ducatis and stuff so it can't be all bad

Cool...I'll try dialing in the suspension a bit more. I currently have it set to the track settings listed in this forum. I might have to bump up the preload a little more...and maybe one less click out on compression. I have a month until my next trackday...so plenty of time to experiment.

No, I wasn't at Mid Ohio. I tracked at Blackhawk Farms. I should be there again the first weekend of September.
