Anyone ever done a TT600 to Speed 4 conversion? I don't have a Triumph dealership close, so it's a bit of a hassle to drive a couple hours just to take some photos of a Speed 4. I'm curious to know what's different in the instrument panel/headlight/air intake area.

You'll find plenty of good close up pix in the picture gallery on this site. Also go to www.bikez.com and search for speed four - the 2003 model picture blows up to something like 1900x1200 and is great for closeups.

The front end uses the same cluster, but the headlights (and probably the mounts) are different. Obviously you will need: new lights, mounting, fly screen, and snorkels for the cold air intakes but other than that you should be done. Be forewarned, that I've heard the headlights alone are around $900.

Not sure how much truth there is to that - since a pair of high end billet light cans could cost $500 for a pair - so take it with a grain of salt.

Have fun.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

900 bucks seems pretty high... check out this site.

I'm thinking about putting the dual head lights on my Yamaha.

Yup. That is high, but those are the triumph parts and pieces needed rather than an aftermarket solution. The lights on that site are close, but not the stock parts.

Stock, there is a center mounted bracket that holds the speedo cluster and the light arm. Then there's the short light arm which connects to to seperate 5.75" lamp housings and all their assorted goodies.

That's probably where the majority of the costs come in - the lights are probably not sold whole but in parts and pieces. We all know how costly parts and pieces can be!

No, nothing has happened to the blue bike. I'm thinking of buying Mac's TT (working on a Speed4 conversion) to set up for full-time dragracing instead of going back & forth with the street bike. Not sure if I will continue the S4 conversion, or try to put TT bodywork back on it. Some of that decision depends on the AMA/Prostock 600SS rules.

Yep, that's me. I didn't know I was "web-famous" though!

Yeah, you are famous! At least enough to claim. I thought Mac had sold his bike a long time ago. Since his bike was mostly a track bike, anyway, couldn't you just leave the track bodywork on it?

I thought maybe it was already sold also, until I emailed him on the spur of the moment last week. I guess he doesn't have that bodywork on it anymore, except for the Airtech tail. He was in the process of doing a Speed 4 conversion on it so his son could learn to ride when he turns 16 in August.
