How easy is it to do on my own? Any good tricks of the trade that i should be aware of? and does anyone recommend any plug above and beyond the NGK CR9EK that the manual calls for?

The base plug of the CR9EK is just the plain old CR9E. the "K" make is a twin electrode plug, one on each side. You could get away with the CR9E if you got a case of the cheaps. I have no idea why Triumph would want to OEM spec a Twin electrode plug. If you want to upgrade you can go to the CR9EIX, which is a single electrode iridium plug wich will resist wear a little better, but at 2x the price its just a trade off.

Use a bit of anti-seize on the threads. Cut a piece of 3/8 inch fuel hose, and place it over the top of the plug to screw them in, so you don't cross thread them. Then torque it down. I think there is also a Denso plug you can use also that is much less expensive than the $8 a plug CR9EK.
