Ok, so I removed the beanie from my S4 about a year ago. Last night I rode home in one of the worst rain showers I've ever ridden in, and my tach and warning lights started getting all screwy. My tach sat at 10k RPM for about ten minutes, and my low fuel light faded in and out.

I've seen several people put the gauge cover from a S3 on their S4. So my question is, how much did it cost to buy it, and do I need to modify anything to make it fit? And did you get it from a dealer?

I just got mine from the dealer yesterday - haven't fitted it yet though. I can give you the part number when I get home, because there are a couple of VIN breaks with slight changes to the design and different part numbers on that peice.

I was quoted $39 from my dealer, which seemed really high. i have tried looking on Ebay, but with no luck.
I believe it is the 05 S3 that fits. same instrument panel
rustbucket- how much did you pay for yours?

THe instrument cover is off the last model of S3 before the high cans. You can see the instrument pack looks identical take a pic of yours & wander round the bike shop till you see the same.

When fitting the cover you have to check the mounting bolts they go in further and one of them will touch the metal mounting frame transmitting vibes tou your expensive intrument pack.

If you cut 1 bolt shorter it fits nicely I just sawed of a bit. I think it was 8mm (about 1/3") but you need to see the problem & do it by eye as you can end up with not much thread.

Cheers Jon

My S4 is a 2003, so it probably takes the older S3 cover.

Does the 2005-06 S4 have the same instruments with the shift light as the newer S3?

I am pretty sure the one that fits also fits a 2000 to 2004 S3, not the newer one. The newer one uses the same clocks as my new bike. The S3, S4, and TT600 uses the same clocks.
