Ya-ya-ya another exhaust question...................
I just took the Gianelli carbon exhaust off my Kawi ZX6R and bolted it on to my 2005 Daytona 650. Bolted right on !!

My question is.......................do I need to have any adjustments made to the injection ?? It runs fine, sounds great............but does it just bolt on and way you go ??

I keep hearing about having a bike re-mapped ????? Is this manditory ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do some searches on tuning and exhausts. I believe the issue is that you remap to get the most out of your exhause, even the stock ones. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with running the old map, it is just that a new map will make the bike run smoother. If your bike is running fine without doing anything but bolting the exhaust on, I don't see any reason to change anything. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

That's what I figured .........
So, if the after market exhaust was not as "air flow" compatible, would it run pretty badly ?? I mean, if it had to be re-mapped, would it be pretty obdvious ?

It seems to be running fine , just a heck of a lot louder now.

You'd probably have a lot of flat spots over certain RPM ranges. Feel like a loss of power or really choppy. Good tunes tend to make the power consistent over the whole RPM range. A solid curve on the dyno and such.

I'll pay a bit closer attention to it on my way in to town tomorrow. Just went for a burn after dinner, but it seemed to run smooth.

Thanks for the info

put a D&D can on my TT three weeks ago and got it remapped...MUCH more responsive, especially in the lows...so much so that i have to relearn clutch feathering to match, which i'm still getting used to. i have to down shift more now than i used to, around 3000RPM if i'm not in the right gear i know about it! but i love the sound, and have got comments from other riders about how sweet it sounds ("kinda like a massive swarm of angry bees...").

So before you had your TT re-mapped, was it running rough with the D&D on it ???

Remapping a D650 is less of an issue, since Keihin injection is a closed loop, with an O2 sniffer in the exhaust. TT600 and S4 injection is Sagem and has no O2 sensor to richen things up to deal with the lean condition that an open can produces. I think there is a Triumph map for "off road" cans for your bike, but I don't know for sure.
