Just had the 650 less than a year, all was fairly well, put it in for its 12000m service. £750 including chain, sprocket and pads. I did not see that coming!
Holy *****! Mine was just under 400 quid. Even with chain, sprockets and pads that sounds steep. The bill for mine included 5 1/2 hours labour. Did they take along time on yours or something?

Definitely time to get out there and do 'MOST' of your maintenance for your selves. You will most likely find that you will do a better and more careful job as well.
I would also look for new dealers that don't 'GOUGE' their customers!
i try and do most things myself ie/ oil+filter, pads+brake fluid, coolant, and attempting chain+sprockets in a few thousand miles!
i also spend time tracking down good deals on tyres usually£100 a set and have a local tyre place fit em for £20 things like fork seals you can have done by your local garage but i will have things done like valve clearences etc done by triumph, it also helps if you take the fairings off and ride to the dealers naked so your not paying for the wrench monkeys to do it
but hey bikes are flighty things and they cost money
