Fitted a power commander quite recently, not ridden much since fitting, i downloaded the only map from the pc website and although ok, it did feel a little retarded below 3000rpm :???:

My mates say what am i doing with the revs that low?

Anyway borrowed a laptop and had a go at changing the fueling myself then taking it on a run, seems alot better,

I am planning to get it set-up professionally at an approved centre, they have quoted me £120 (2hrs labour)whats that $180, and think it will be worth the outlay.

I was told by my dealer that they have never placed a PC on a Speed Four.

We are trying to smooth out the low revs ( as your mate said, why are we in the low revs anyway!! haha)

My dealer said that to change the pipe and adjust the CO ?? would help almost as much as a PC???

I have changed the pipe on mine, now have a blueflame evo can.

I fitted the can before the power commander and it didn't run smooth at all.

That was my reason for buying a power commander

I dont regret buying it, but as you say dealers have no experience of fitting them on a speed four so no real knowledge of the improvements. :???:

Im certainly going to take it to a local specialist who builds race bikes, he has experience of power commanders and the latest dyno to set mine up how i want it! its just costly.

Either TuneBoy or a PC can adjust things to smooth out the problem. You will find a strange hole in the ignition timing around 4K. I know you can deal with that using TuneEdit. I don't know whether a PC has that ability. Price wise, I think they are about the same, but TuneBoy has a lot more functions.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

I have a PCIII (pre-USB) w/ a custom tune. All work done by Erico Motorsports in Denver, CO. I'm fairly satisfied with the gains - pulls much, much stronger and smoother all the way to redline. This benefit was immediately apparent. What was also immediately apparent was that it did nothing for the surge I have between 2.5K-3K RPM. After mounting my Blue Flame "race" pipe, the surge appeared and it has never been resolved - PCIII w/ custom tune and all. It's something I have just learned to live with. I am planning on getting it to a very reputable tuner in the Bay Area who is willing to work with me on resolving the surge issue.

The PCIII w/ custom tune, however, was still well worth it...
