Hey guys, just bought as used yellow S4 and I'm lovin it so far but I can't get the right pillon peg to unfold. The left one is fine but the right won't budge. I got a girlfriend who likes riding so I gotta get this resolved. Any suggestions?

Button? Do you mean the pin the peg swivels on?
Thanks for the info, I'll look for it tonight...

I always jiggle the flat piece under the peg. I think that is the button that we are talking about. Push that flat metal piece under the peg, while you push down on the peg and it usually pops down. Yesterday, it worked 1.2.3. Sometimes its a five minute process.

Mine snapped off and the dealer replaced under warranty. Very strange, no force was applied, it just broke while trying to open for about the 3-4 time. I can only get my 6yr old daughter to ride with me, so its not like a ton of force had ever been applied. 6000 miles and thats all I can whine about.

One of mine did that after a year and I never use it. I pulled out the pin, spring and ball - cleaned them up and lubed it all up really well. I haven't had a problem since.

On my S4 the right peg jams or used to.

Partly I think the heat of the exhaust dries out any lubricant, but also (on my S4) the casting for the right pillion peg hanger is too wide where the peg fits in. Because of that the ball bearing was coming too far out of it's hole & then jamming.

I took up some clearance by putting a shim under the metal plate & it has been fine ever since. Hope it works for you.

My right hand peg got a bit stiff a while back (ooer), just needed a dab of oil to loosen it up again

No, I think the spring and ball must be too stiff for the aluminum that the bracket is made of. One of mine won't stay folded because the bracket material has been gouged by the ball. I don't know that my bike has ever had a pillion on it. I know it hasn't since I have owned it because my wife just isn't interested in riding.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
