Once again I need help winning a argument with my wife. She is saying that a good tire should last longer then 300-3500 miles. Hell I got 4000 out of the stock tire on the S4. Now with the Pilot Powers she is expecting more mileage. Would someone please explain to her the reason that this is NOT TRUE!! It does not matter what I say. :hammer:

It depends upon the compound. Most sportbikes come with a softer compound tire. That being said I got a little over 5000 on my stock tire.
I do a lot of higher mileage rides so I decided to go with sport-touring tires this time. I'm hoping to get close to 7000 on my rear, 8000 and I'd be jumping for joy.
For the record, I have Avon Azaro STs. I actually like them better than the tires that came stock with the bike.

6500 miles on the stock Bridgestones and still going, but that doesn't keep me from wanting new skins.

Dude, Careful. At 4000 on stockers I was slipping all over the place. I took most of the tires on a 800 mile 2 day trip on some of the best roads I have ever been on, Blue MT scenic highway. Did I mention that I was the "slow guy". The 595 and 996 were Way faster then me and wearing rubber of the knees.

You don't want me to say how many miles I get out of tires! I had 12K on a set of Diablos when the yellow bike blew. I had a total of 8 laps on the Corsas that were on the bike at the time. It all depends on how hard you ride, how fast you are going, how much weight you are carrying, and how hot the pavement is. I ride in traffic in rain a whole lot. If I were a weekend warrior who only rode on sunny days, I probably wouldn't get near as many miles out of my tires.
So, you don't necessarily want me talking to your wife about tire wear! :-D I can always filter the information, y'know.

I just switched my original Bridgestone BT10 front after 10,000 miles. My original rear caught a nail, and then my second BT10 caught another nail, and my current BT12 rear has about 3000 miles and is going strong.

I just swaped out my rear today. I run sport-touring tires since i do a lot of milage and got 16.5K miles out of a conti road attack, the center of the tire was worn smoth with no tread left. Hopefully i can get that again with the new one.
