I am assuming that the new 675 will run fully synthetic oil from new - but I am sure that I have read somewhere that when running a bike (or any engine) in, it is better to use semi-synthetic as it allows the rings and bores to bed in better and more quickly as fully synth is actually too good for this to happen properly.
Any ideas folks? Or is this one of those urban myths?

Run it in with the break in oil from the factory. At the 1st service switch to the recommended full synthetic.

yeah they use a running in oil its kind of microscopically gritty ( ya know, like that stuff the wife puts on her face to detox the skin ,not that I've used it of course!!!)so the engine components bed in properly
also I've read in some articles that caning the bike from new and not properly running it in can produce higher HP figures!!!!!!!!!
but I'm not so sure i would like to try it on something I've just spent a fortune on!

Thanks for that guys.

I'll be popping into the dealers later so I'll ask them too and let you know what they say..

Spoke to the dealers today and nerw bikes have semi-synthetic oil until the first service so that they get the chance to bed in properly.

I also took their 675 demo out...

...and was really disappointed.

I'm 5'7" and can only just touch the floor. Riding position is bum up head down.
Out on the open road it comes into its own and everything suddenly starts to make sense - fast twisties and track days will be a real hoot.
I put my deposit down in Sept, and the dealer reckons I should have my bike for March 1st.
The problem is, I'm not sure if I really want it. :???:

it's going to be a focused bike. you won't be the only one feeling that way. no one has experienced a full on supersport from Triumph. The TT/S4's were cozy, the 675 is not.
