Did the quick fix a long time ago of wrapping the clutch cable in wire loom, used to check it all the time, never noticed much so I forgot all about it, while cleaning noticed that it has worn through the rubber surround and you can see the metal that actually is protecting the clutch cable. Dealer looked at it, and is going to see if Triumph will help out with it, but bike is out of warranty. Both my local dealer AZSBK and P.J.'s Triumph say they have never seen this occur, I know that there used to be many posts on here. Anyone have any info to help me get this taken care of, I'm sure it's not a very expensive fix, but still, it's not MY fault the clutch cable wears through, it's the manufacturers...

Everyone I ever met with an S4 has this problem.
Someone here talked about a fix that required reversing the bracket that holds the right turn signal stalk.
Most people buy something like 3/4" dia plastic split wire sheathing from Pep Boy's and put it over the cable. That's what I did and it's worked fine for the last 6,000 miles. No wear at all. Of course, I carry an extra clutch cable just in case. I think it cost $30.

I've also had the very same issue. My S4 is still under warranty, and Triumph replaced it. However, the cost of the actual cable is very little, so it shouldn't hurt to replace it. -Far better than having the lil guy snap at a crucial time.

Yeah that's what I figured, I'll see if Triumph will help, and if not I'll buy one or 2 and have a friend of mine install it at his shop, or maybe my dealer will hook me up and install it for free if I have to buy it...

But it would be good to solve the premature wear problem that can eat through the outer sheath in less than 1000 miles.

True, After I get this sorted out, I am probably gonna epoxy some rubber to the hard edges of the hook thingy and bracket and see if that helps, then I'll have wire loom AND rubber to extend the life of it. The wire loom helped for a long time, but i would adjust it anytime I notice a bit of wear, but something must of gotten jostled and caused it to really start wearing, cause I know that it wore through quick, once it started...

Wasn't someone producing a custom cable that solved this problem?

I got Venhill in uk to make me a new cable without the top bend and then routed it like this Jon's clutch cable route this has improved the hot-engine clutch action and gearchange and not worn noticeably in 4,000 ml.

If you want I will try to upload the dimensions
