I won't go into gratuitous detail about the review, as I'm a little wary of this turning into T675.net. Suffice to say that it's a very positive overall review, and the line which best sums it up is:

"There's something for everyone in this bike and Triumph have spent most of their time making sure you're going to find it."

One of the most interesting points in the article, however, related to the induction noise and the two engine management controlled valves in the intake/exhaust system. They say that from 4K rpm there's a great noise, muted only at certain points by one of the valves (presumably intake) for EC noise reg purposes. Apparently all you have to do is pinch the vacuum fed hose at a particular point and you have full airbox noise all the time.

Don't know whether that affects the fuelling in any way, but it sounds like Triumph have made it very easy to unofficially get around the issue. :-D

I read about the induction music. I am really looking forward to hearing it in person. March?

I don't think you have to worry too much about this turning into a dedicated 675 forum. There is already one over at Triumph675.net if you want that. There are way too many S4, TT600, and Daytona 600/650 riders here already for it to get completely taken over!

We may want to split the forum into a Triple subform and a Four subforum someday, but there doesn't seem to be enough difference in posts yet to make it much of an issue.

Besides, it is a Triumph supersport, and a good one. They are all good. Just different. If they were not, we wouldn't be here!

My dealer is saying March, or *maybe* earlier for my own bike. I've said I'm not bothered about waiting for the change of reg plates we have here in the UK on 1st of March as I think the bike's a "keeper". They've just got their demo, so I'll be able to have a go after it's been run in. They're keeping it in the showroom until the weekend for people to "look at, touch, feel, lick, etc". Their words. :-D

The comments about T675.net were not really intended to be about the subject matter so much as the furvour that's building up over there! I'm as excited as anyone about getting my bike, but things are getting a bit steamy over there. I'm very pleased that the bike is getting so much favourable press, but too much anticipation could diminish the moment when you go to pick it up. I want to enjoy that to the max.

The PB review described the bike as a "watershed moment" for Triumph. My only concern about the bike now is that it will be more common to see when riding around. I want Triumph to do well, and they are, but I kinda like that there's alot less D600s out there than CBR600RRs and so on. Success is a double edged sword I guess, but the lead time should disuade some of the 'gotta have it' loons. :???:

Gladgd are you meaning this hose on top of the inlet leading into the round thing..?

Rode on mine 675 last saturday when i collected it, and indeed the intake noise is overwelming..

Grrrr! I shall have mine soon, but not soon enough.

I don't know which hose they're talking about Catweasel as I've not physically seen it myself. Did you mean to include a pic link? Here's the literal quote from the mag:

"Pinch the vacuum hose off after the solenoid, but before the valve, right between the headlights, and you'll have a wide-open airbox all day long."

They don't mention having to change anything else to compensate in the fuelling etc, so perhaps this is an unofficial freebie from the company.

Good to hear you're enjoying it. How's the running in going?

Greg

I have a sneaky suspicion that whith the narrowness of the bike, the wire like framing and that underseat exhast that in the hieght of summer in traffic its gonna be one hell of a ball baker... i get hot enough on the S4 in town...i'd liek to hear some feedback on test rides about this, im sure its fine as long as you're moving but what about when you cant...

Something that thin, Treehugger, and you think filtering is going to be a problem? :-D

Only 1 review that I've seen has even mentioned exhaust heat and that was a question rather than stating any problem. I think you just have to trust that it's something they will have taken care of as best they can.

its not the traffic its the endless sets of lights :P there rarely a gap i dont squeeze through( see my video post on "mp3 player on a bike" but sat at the lights mid summer is baking. its my only gripe about the 675, i wish they had done something new with the exhaust, it seems like there are only a few makers bold enough to do so and they set the style, underseat will no doubt pass soon and triumph may apear to only have just caught up. They should have skipped it and be bold. lets face it, were all gonna buy one, but we like to be different, thats why triumph did so well last year, and rightly so.. new triple, bonnie, truxton, rocket iii, sprint and now this... its like christmas and bdays all in one

The 675 I rode actually ran cooler than my 650. It has the loud exhaust on, so that might help keep things a little cooler. But the engine didn't get hot even stood in traffic after some spirited riding. One thing I did notice was the heat coming off the side of the engine. When you are sat in traffic your legs are practically touching the engine as it's so thin and there's a fair bit of heat coming off. I think you're more likely to get sweaty legs than have to worry about the heat from the exhaust.

Hi Greg

That will be me running it in. I'll be collecting it Saturday pm, and returning it on Tuesday 31st Jan. Tough job but someone's got to do it.
