Wow! Unbelievably bizarre answer!

1) The neutral switch is what controls the neutral light
2) Road Speed Sensor cannot possibly determine Neutral, only speed and odometer.
3) The Road Speed Sensor is not even connected to the ECM, so there is no associated error code, even if there
was a fault with it.
Most likely the neutral switch itself (although could be connectivity issue) - the switch is located down by the gear shift lever.
One thing you might notice is that, regardless of whether transmission itself is actually in neutral, if that switch is not made (and therefor light is not on), bike will not start unless the side-stand is up!
