Pearl white paint and custom reflective logos (lots of pics)
Hi everyone, this is my first paintjob and it was quite the adventure!
I converted the back room of my garage into a crossdraft filtered air spray booth, spent a ton of hours sanding because the previous owner rattle canned over the original paint and learned the hard way about primer mixture ratios.
I drew the vector file for the logos myself pulling inspiration from the new street triple 675 logo style. That combined with the Sharkskins race fairings really updated the look of the bike. Overall I really like the way it turned out!
Thanks all, I would have liked to do the frame black but to do it right I would've had to strip a lot more parts to paint the whole thing and I didn't want to go that deep.
Also I forgot to mention I did the decals out of reflective vinyl so it really pops in headlights.
I used a small pancake compressor (I believe it was 6 gallon) with a compressor capable of 3.5 scfm at 40psi (150psi max) it was small but it did the job just fine, at times I had to stop for 30 seconds to let the compressor catch up. Also I used a cheap harbor freight gun with a couple dehumidifiers in the air line. The paint is PPG Shopline, it seems like it shrunk a lot in some areas but it could have been not enough surface prep in those areas.
Again just my own opinion, but I think the sides beneath the intakes could use a tt600 decals too......there's a lot of blank real-estate there with nothing to break it up.
BTW, you do realise you're missing a bolt for your front hugger??
haha unfortunately I'm missing a lot of bolts for the fairings, anyone know a good place to get them?
I designed and cut number decals for that area and when I held them up to the bike it just didn't look right so im not sure how that real estate will be developed, I feel like theres already 5 TT600 decals so Im not sure if another 2 would look like too many, but I agree lots of white space there.
