Probably fuel injector noise. There was a noticably louder ticking from my motor before it blew, so make sure you note whether it is a steady light tapping at certain rpms- it can be fairly loud- or a harder tapping that is constant throughout the rev range and louder near redline.

How many miles on your bike?

Check the exhaust manifold bolts. If one or two are loose it'll make a ticking noise.

9k miles is nothing for a Triumph. It is just barely broken in!
