2005 Daytonna 650

Had a buddy tell me yesterday on the way home, both brake lights are full light all the time. Sure enough go to check and from ignition on the lights are full brightness, like the brake is applied.

Everything looks alright from brake switches nothing stuck. Checked the fuses nothing out of the ordinary in the fuse box. I'd take it by the dealership, but the nearest one is 330 miles away now that ours went under

Any ideas?

The most likely culprit is the rear brake light switch. It is probably adjusted so that the plunger is always pushed in a little. You can adjust it at the brake pedal. It is a black plastic plunger/ housing with a couple of adjustment nuts on it and a wire sticking out the back. The adjustment is so simple that you will be scratching your head wondering what you missed.

That was indeed it. That switch is kinda hinky. There is no second locking nut so the whole mechanism sorta "floats" there. I'll need to work on that later.

Thanks!

Since you solved my switch problem can you get my dealership back too?
