Check engine light

Well I had a flat battery earlier today and having jump started it my check engine light is now on.

Since the engine sounds and responds fine I'm thinking it's probably just the ECU not liking the jump start and storing an error code, Is there any way I can reset it without taking it to a garage?

Three heat cycles ought to do the trick if there's no problems.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

so start it up run it till the fan comes on? then turn it off and on again twice more?

Or do you mean 3 cycles while it's running because the lights still on and I covered a lot of ground?

Start from cold and get it good and hot. I don't know for sure if the fan has to come on, but if you get it warm enough for the fan, then you can be sure it's warm enough. Then let it cool clear down. Once it has cooled all the way down to the point it goes through its cold start routine with an enriched mixture, you have gone through a heat cycle.

My light came on the other day. I had a dead battery and it did not want to start so I charged it. Drove it for a few mins and notice the light was on.

It is running fine. I will have to give this a try and see if it fixes my problem. I hope so
