A friend has asked me to ask:

He really likes the S4 and is quite keen to buy but he doesn't like the snorkel air intakes. Has anyone done any mods to alter the looks of these?

How much would it effect performance to shorten them?

I don't know of any modified intake snorkels around here that you can look at, but members have either run the inner tubes without the outer snorkel or simple removed the inner and outer ram-air tubes altogether, leaving visible holes in the chassis. Both of these changes look horrific in my opinion when compared to the factory snorkels. As far as performance goes, there is a ram-air benefit in having the factory length and size intakes; however, shortening them or removing them will probably only show a power loss on a dyno, and will not be noticed by the rider.
