Is this a major issue?

Hello, so i drained out the old gas in my tt and while handling the fuel pump this happened

the fuel return tube broke at the base. I didnt think it would have any effect being the return tube, but when i went to go start the bike, it just turned over and didnt even try to start. The fuel pump primed and all, so im guessing that it may be geting flooded? I dont know if that can hapen on a efi bike or not. would it be sake to run a fuel line coupler or something there?

Yes, it is a problem, and you'll need to have the tube either welded/soldered up at a radiator shop, or you'll need to find another pump housing.

thanks for the reply, im gonna buy a new assembly in a while but i have a peice of fuel line temporarly in place. But the bike is still not starting, Pump primes, relays are working, got the bike in neutral and have tried with kickstand up and down. I belive its not getting spark, it just turns over but wont fire. I checked the plugs i ran the new ones for 10min before taking the tank off, it started and ran before i took the tank off and pulled out the pump, ive pulled the tank off twice and theres fuel in the lines, so i know its getting fuel. Is there some sort of alarm/imobileizers on these bikes?

You may have the fuel lines crossed at the tank; this causes the starting issues you describe. Right side fuel rail hose goes to white female connector in tank; left hose goes to red connector. If that does fix it, you should still have the return hardline repaired.

yep the lines were crossed, which is weird cause now the colors dont match up.im guessing when the dealer did the warranty work they put the opposite color fitting on the hose. But hey at least it runs now. Thank you bombfactory

It's one of those things only somebody with a weird sense of humor in the Hinkley factory can explain. The lines don't match once the warranty work is complete. I can't think of a reason somebody decided it was a good idea, but it's what Triumph did.

hopefully theres not to many other jokes lol. Well new gas a fi cleaner has helped a ton, theres very minimal hang up and stumbling now. I think another tank with fi cleaner will do the trick all the way. I took it for a ride down the alley and it wasnt riding bad at all. Just at idle if you rip on it to quick it doesnt like it. When i bought it it had 3/4 tank of 7mo old gas, yeah not cool, and prolly the lowest grade that arco offered was in there too. Does anybody have recommendations for fi cleaner? Im using some heavy duty gumont stuff, jus wondering if theres some secret off the wall stuff out there.

I have used seafoam with good results. It also does well as a fuel stabilizer if the bike is going to sit for a few weeks.

I live near Alabama hill. Bellingham is great - I really like it. I came here for school and decided to stay for now. Yeah - that commute to Everett would be awful. There is no way I would do that for more than a couple of weeks.
