tt600 won't start

i have a tt with a little over 20,000 miles. the other day i went for a ride to the local theater. after the movie i came out and went to start my bike. i had to hit the ignition button about three times before the bike would start. when it did start i drove it across the parking lot to get food then went to leave and the bike wouldnt start. about a week before this happened i started noticing some weird symptoms. a lot of backfiring when speeding up and slowing down, the engine would die when accelerating quickly (such as getting on the freeway). I'm assuming the prob is not battery, fuses, alternator, or spark plugs, because if it was my bike wouldn't have started at all after the theater. correct? i'm guessing its one of 3 things fuel filter, fuel pump, or fuel injectors.

if any body could help me trouble shoot this issue that would be great. im leaning twords it being the fuel pump is there any way i can check this without disassembling my bike

thanks

When you turn on the ignition can you hear the fuel pump prime?

i believe so,but i did noticed when i turned the ignition back to the off position it sounded kinda weird like there was a small motor trying to move something jammed. don't know if it made that sound before cuz i usually turn off the bike in loud areas with my helmet on, and the sound is kinda faint.

thanks for your reply

A small motor? If you're pressing the ignition button and hearing a little motor go clickety clack then you're not getting enough power from the battery. Have you tried eliminating a bad battery from the list of possibilities?

The one thing that comes to mind is the IACV

It happened to me at Daytona during Biketober fest, one of the four vacuum hoses going to the IACV split. My bike was hard to start. Idled really low when it did finally start. And popped /backfired/acted like it was missing sometimes. Generally ran like crap.

Let us know what you find out.

ya its not the battery cuz the engine tries to start.(although i prob need to charge the bat. soon from trying to start it so many times) and my friend sprayed some "quick start" stuff in the engine and it came really close to starting but still wouldn't start.

its behind #1 cylinder (left-hand side) looks like an octopus. what split on mine were the little rubber connectors on the ends of the hoses. total of 4 hoses, 2 connectors per hose.
a hose goes to the intake tract of each cylinder

so here is an up date, my problem is not solved yet but i checked the IACV is fine. i poped off my all the way and took the brass thing with the pump and filter attached and every thing looks good. i plugged my fuel pump in while it was out of the tank and it is definitely priming up when i turn the key. does this factor insure that my pump is perfectly fine and that is not the cause to my issue? also i have a new filter i have yet to install but could my filter really be that dirty? to the point where my bike cant start cuz of it.
