Foot breaklight not working

Hey guys

(TT600)
Its time to take out the bike for its first run of the year.
Problem is that ill have to take it for its inspection where they check if the bike is roadlegal or not.

Problem is that the break light on the foot break is not turning on.
with the hand break it works.
im guessing the problem came up when i changed the back tire last year.

Can i have damaged something?

The problem is likely to be a faulty switch, or a loose connector. Either way, it should be easy to locate and fix. Remove the seat and look at the wires that go to the rear light. Check all the connections. If all seems ok, look at the switch itself. This will be behind the heel guard, or somewhere near the pedal. pull off the rubber boot, and check the wires. If all seems ok, then get out the multimeter, and check out the switch.

It's probably not the switch itself, but the mechanism that it operates on. At the right peg is an assembly with a heelguard/footpeg and the brake assembly that connects to the rear brake fluid reservoir. You'll notice that a wire does indeed connect behind it and to a switch. The switch operates by having a pin pulled by this long double sided hook when the rear pedal is depressed. I have the same problem since at some point I disassembled that part to replace the peg.

I'd take a look at the physical mechanism first, find the hook and pull on it yourself. If your brakelight lights up, its nothing electrical and just a matter of the hook. Then it's up to you if you want to actually fix it to stock or figure a way to manually modulate it independent of the brake lever.

The "hook" is actually a spring. True, it pulls on a sliding pin inside the switch. It is possible the pin is frozen. Spray electrical contact cleaner into the switch to clean it then some WD/40 or equivalent to lubricate. If you can activate the light by manually pulling on the "hook" then it is a matter of adjustment.
