home made fender eliminator

My best friend did this mod for me. Got rid of the fender and brought the turnsignals closer together.

It looks like he cut off the mudguard toward the top, and fastened the license plate to the subframe. Relatively doable with a hacksaw or tin snips and a drill.

The other option for the more mechanically inclined is to build an "L" bracket out of sheet metal or aluminum sheet and screw/bolt it to the undertail or the subframe. That also allows you to mount aftermarket turn signals if you bend in the sides of the bracket.

I sawed the fender off and sanded it smooth. The turn signals were mounted with "L" brackets that you can pick up at any hardware store. I was able to bring the turn signals in and forward so they don't stick out as much. I would imagine that you could mount just about any signals with the brackets. The license plate was mounted with a small license plate bracket and fastened to the fender. A coulple of hours and less than $10 worth of parts. The kits I've seen that achieve basically the same thing cost $150. Basically did exactly what Bombfactory said, I just bought the L brackets instead of fabricating them.

I intend to make something to cover up the L brackets, you can't see them unless you squat down right next to the bike
