Headstock bolt/mount sat nav

Hi, i am trying to find best way of mounting a sat nav unit on my tt600 ahead of a euro trip later this year.

I have a recommendation that the headtock bolt can be machined to accept a thread in the top of it, to mount said unit.

Is the headstock bolt easy to take out? - what drops off i i undo it? and are there any other clever options anyone has successfully used to mount a unit. the usual round clamps have no space on the handlebars

Cheers

I'm not sure what you mean by "headstock bolt." There really isn't a headstock bolt, aside from the actual bolt that runs through the headstock, which cannot be drilled into, nor should be.

Are you talking about the top triple clamp acorn nut in the center of the top clamp? If that is the case, I don't recommend drilling and tapping it, as vibration could crack it.

I'm sure there have been people who've modified something on the triple clamp or clipons to mount a navigation unit, but is there a reason why you don't build a bracket coming off the front fuel tank mount or off the fuel cap? Maybe even a bracket that uses the instrument panel bracket-to-frame mounting holes?
