sludge on stator

Alright, so towards the end of fall my TT600 would die very quickly and only stay on for about 15 minutes. At first I thought it was the battery, but I'm stick of the charging issues I've been having so I wanted to replace the R/R, Battery, and get the stator rewound all at the same time. I pulled the stator off and on the whole top half of the metal was covered in Grime. I'm almost positive this was my issue. I would like to know what caused it. Any ideas?

I'll have pictures up soon of the grime.

That appears to be a fried stator, and not just oil sludge. The stator shorting out causes the wire coils to overheat, burning everything around them.

Stator is toast.

Didn't you say you had replaced this?

Was that OEM or after-market part? New or used?

I did. it was replaced with a new one. I bought it from a UK site awhile back found on this site. FuryFour posted it up. I THINK this was caused from a bad R/R that I bought used from ebay. I'm just replacing the whole charging system.

New stator: 01 TT600 from here. http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/partsearch.php

This New Rectifier: http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/ca...ectifier-82899

and new battery soon.

Says a Heavy Duty one for people who were having issues. I pray to God this doesnt have any issues!

- that is NOT the one you want - that is an SCR type

Do the FH008 off the later model Honda (I thought you already had this?)

See, thats why I checked. Like I said I bought the R/R from ebay and believe it's toast. I assumed the original link I posted for the R/R was correct because it is made for a 2006 CBR model is this the R/R I want to buy?

Like I already said - that is an SCR R/R.
I don't see the value in changing out your MOSFET series for an SCR - don't care how 'heavy duty' they claim it to be.
I would bet there is nothing wrong with your FH008 that you installed.
Just because your after-market stator failed does not necessarily mean the R/R is what caused it.
If you're throwing it away (the FH008) send it to me!

Alright, I am going to install the Stator with the R/R I have now and post up all the readings I get off the guide DEcosse posted with his R/R thread.

Use one of these connectors between the stator & the R/R

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=360232366081
(Be sure to specify 12-14ga terminals in the notes!)
