I'm confused by what you mean by a "healthy lope." If it is healthy, there is no problem. What rpm does the engine idle at when cold, warming up, and when at running temp?

To troubleshoot the dimming lights, I'd first take some DC volt readings at the battery terminals with the engine off, idling, and raising the rpm up to 5K.

i jus mentioned the lope thinking it was coralated to the lights dimming when revved....
cold=2200
warm up=1800
running temp=1000

The rpm values look normal. It should idle between 1k and 1,300, although the tach is not perfectly accurate. I'd say engine rpm isn't the issue, but you could have a charging or battery issue. The voltage readings will give you a better idea.

My 2000 has from day one had a lope to its idle. I just write it off as a "radical street cam".

And yes I do know the thing has two cams.

Do the lights get bright and stay that way when you pick the revs up a little. If so I say everything is OK. But do keep an eye on the charging output.
