New Bazookas!

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering what kind of exhaust systems people have on their bikes and if there are any recommendations? I'm looking to turn mine into a hooligan machine!

Cosmetically I'm more interested in stubbies, or blunt ended pipes. Preferrably a full system for the right price.

Personally I went for the Triumph race can which is loud and throaty. I think that it will fit the D650. Picked it up off ebay. Unless you are a born racer there's not much chance your going to use all the power the machine has and investing mega £'s for cosmetic reasons never appealed to me. Let us know what you do though with a picture of the finished item.
regards
Ray

I have nothing but good things to say about Supertrapp and Blueflame mufflers. They cost about as much as any other quality muffler, and their material and craftsmanship quality is extremely good, the sound is great, and they look unique compared to what most people are running.

I like the carbon fibre look. Are these all just cans or are they full systems? I'd imagine the header pipes are already pretty effective as standard. Wanted to fit some onto my last bike which was a 650cc single but it had 2 pipes and shelling out 7-800 quid didnt seem worth it.

Do you have to adjust the mixture at all with these or does the ecu readjust automatically?

mines just a can.. you do have to remap... theres a 2001 tt600 open can program they can do at the dealership.. the number is 10091. That is the Triumph mapping for a 2001 with an aftermarket can.

from reading the forums i hear the best way is to get a tuneboy and a dyno..

personally i have left it stock.. you get a little lumpy under 3K rpm but im rarely there

Does that not affect startup and tick over?

My Blueflame required tweaking the fuel map with TuneBoy, and it is best to tweak the map for the Supertrapp muffler also; however, the Supertrapp muffler can be tuned itself to where a remapping is not required--although you won't be letting the engine breathe as much as it would like. Not remapping defeats the purpose of an aftermarket, open muffler, as the lack of fuel doesn't allow the muffler's open design to work well with the engine. Of course, if you just want a louder, poorer running engine, a remap doesn't really matter.

There are no mass-produced aftermarket headers for the 600/650cc Triumph engine. I argue that the stock header has a good flow design to begin with. You could have an exhaust shop skilled in custom headers build you one, but that will probably be very expensive.

I should note that the Supertrapp mufflers do not bolt up to the oem muffler flange; you will need to either have someone tig weld a stainless steel flange onto the muffler, or you will need to cut off the oem flange and use the slip-on clamp ST provides.

No problems with my can. Once the bike is warmed up on these winter mornings she is fine.
