TT600 lowsided, now belches blue smoke

I put the bike down about 30-40 and as with all things bike accidents it was fairly jarring. The bike now belches black/blue smoke out of the exhaust.

I am not sure where to begin looking. I rode the bike about a mile and it did not seem to clear. I have since taken the bike apart somewhat but I could not find any obvious source of oil contamination.

Any tips or guidance? I am not an expert mechanic but I have done odd repairs over the years on Porsches and other toys. Is it safe to assume there is an oil seal that jarred and unseated or could I be looking at something worse? Because I knew it was consuming oil I did not push the bike hard at all during my test run so I am uncertain if it is performing correctly, though it does not seem to be missing at least.

Best,

John Hall

The centrifugal breather which vents the crankcase probably pumped oil into your airbox. There's a later design which works better. Replace the breather valve and clean out your airbox. It is likely full of oil.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Thanks Will

Appreciate the info. I did find some oil in the airbox which I cleaned. I will look for the breather valve and get it taken care of.

Best,

JH

As soon as you get it running smoothly, I highly recommend running fuel injector cleaner in a fresh tank of low-octane fuel. The oil that got through the intake and into the cylinders could possibly stick a valve or injector nozzle, causing some ugly problems.
