Daytona 650 fairing fasteners

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, I've recently taken delivery of a Daytona 650 but unfortunately I havn't had time to get back and play with it

Its missing the front screw which hopefully if I can get a pic in this thread you can see. It also appears to be missing something behind it. I have the screw but what does the bracket behind it look like and does it need a nut or anything? Pics would be very helpful if you have them!

Here you go. It would be #21 on the parts list. Its called a captive nut.

May be easier to go to the dealership and see if they have something that will work. I think its a fairly common fastener used by most bike manufacturers.

It just clips over a tab behind the empty bolt hole. If the tab is not there, then read this. RexxyPup give a great explaination on how to fix broken bodywork.

Good luck

after further investigation I've found that it was the plastic tab that has broken off behind the fairing. Rather than rebuild it I've made a aluminium plate to go behind it and use an m5 (I think it is I havn't checked for sure yet?) nut with a washer to hold it all together.

The problem is my bike is back in Kent and I'm away in Herts. Can anyone do me a favour and give me a few dimensions. Near to the back of this fitting the plate will have to be shaped around a plastic ridge. Can anyone tell me how high/wide this is please?

Cheers if anyone can help, any photos of the back of the fairing would be useful to as I have been completely disorganised!

Personally I would go with the plastic repair as in the earlier link. I used a similar product to repair tabs on my fairing and it is as strong as the original. This was over the summer so they stood the test of time. What I used can be found here http://www.plastexexpress.co.uk/repairs.htm
Take a look at the video demo to see how easy it is.
