Quick action throttle?
I hate, hate, hate, seriouslly hate how long of a twist it is to WOT on my TT600. If I keep her she will become a track bike, but only if I can shorten the throttle a little. Anyone know where I can find a kit or how I can safely modify the throttle.
Thanks!
Shawn

Seems to me that it's not about the throttle itself, but on the other end going into the throttle body. The question would be how to modify that to open with less pull length. True?

Not really, for instance my CBR can use an R6 throttle it moves the point of inserstion to shorten the turn length to WOT. I mean you could try that but if there is an easier solution that would be best.

I'm not sure what you mean by the R6 cable moves the point of insertion; insertion into what? The throttle body shaft, or the grip? I believe ncdave is correct here, as the throttle radius depends on the throttle body shaft plate where the cable attaches and the diameter of the hand grip where the cable rides, and not the length of the cable. The length of the cable would change nothing so long as the mounting point onto the clutch cover had the same adjustment. If this point did not have the same adjustment, it would simply move around the adjustment and not the overall throw on the throttle body shaft.
I've never heard any of the track members on here complain about the throttle, but maybe they know how to modify the setup.

Thats more or less what I meant, maybe just explained better
I find that most of the time WOT takes a full wrist turn + pulling w/ my fingers, which is a little irritating.

I hated the throttle pull on my TT600 on the track. There is no aftermarket solution I know of, but what you can do is wrap a zip tie around the throttle barrel where the cable winds around it. The larger the diameter, the faster the pull. Or, you could just use a dual cable throttle and ignore the second cable. I didn't try it, so I can't tell you how to do it.

My younger brother put a fat bead of hot glue in the groove that the cable rides in. That basically made the outside circumfrence larger which pulled the throttle quicker. The glue was soft enough to be compressed to make a new groove for a few minutes, then cooled to be hard as a rock. You could try it, you won't lose anyting if you don't like it.

A popular upgrade for some old school Honda was to use part of PVC piping to increase the diameter.

Well thank you for all the replys, but I just got a call and the bike is leaving today. Bittersweet it was my first bike, but I could be back on a triumph if I can find a crashed 675 to make into my track bike.
Thanks!
Shawn
