$1300 for a tank of gas

Went for a ride last Saturday, stopped first to top of the tank. I got 50 miles into my ride, turned down a rode that soon ran out of pavement so I made a slow U turn and the bike died. It had ran flawlessly up to this point. Trailered the bike home and then to the dealer a couple of days later. The gas had water and debree in it and the mechanic said that the water in the gas caused the carbon on the valves to come loose and keep the lifters from seating. So he had to take off the heads and do this that and the other. Careful where you get your gas from!

Jeebus, I don't suppose there is anyway for the pump station to pay the repair costs? That sucks big time.

I'm working on that, but I don't expect any favorable results.

Was the gas station an independent operation? Where abouts/what's the name? We get through there on occassion and I'd just as soon avoid these folks.

I'd be tempted to drive back to the same station, fill up a 5 gallon can at the same pump with the same octane gas, and see what it looks like. If there is clearly debris in it, you'd have a better case at having them fork the bill. Sorry to hear about this.

Good luck going after them. Cause and effect can be pretty hard to prove to the law, even though common sense would tell you exactly what happened.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Usually fuel stations are heavily regulated by the state, you can try contacting the appropriate agency as well.
