Daytona 600 Oil Leak

I am a new user and a fairly new bike rider. I bought a 2004 Daytona 600 and unfortunatly it was laid down. I managed to crack the black housing on the left side..the engine cover perhaps? and it started leaking a fair amount of oil very fast. The bike wouldnt start either and it seemed like it had some trouble shifting in to first gear and i had trouble after it was down shifting into neutral. I was reading another thread about hydrolock and it seems like that maybe what it is but i was wondering if anyone knew for sure. I had it towed in and am waiting on an estimate. If anyone knows what parts maybe required or what may have happened i would greatly appreciate the help.
Thank you in advance

It could be hydrolock. If the drop was on the right side, it is more likely than a drop on the left side.

It's a far more common problem with TT600s, due to the breather and the breather's associated valve, but I don't see why it couldn't happen with a Daytona 600.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
