Battery or Electrical issues

I just bought a used 04 Daytona 600 as a beginner bike. I have been using it for a week. Yesterday, I exiting the offramp, downshifting when the power just went dead. I asked for a jump start and the bike started. But when I was leaving and shifted the gear, the engine died. there was almost little light on my dash. Would this be a battery issue only? Or are there more issues such as alternator or regulator?

Thank you. Is this common in Triumph 600 or just Triumph in general, charging/electrical issues?

It's common in many bikes...... All metric bikes I've ever owned were hard on charging.....

Believe it or not my dinosaur Buell has never been a problem, or the last 2 I owned.....

Call it luck

Ok. Brought the bike to the shop. I was told that the rectifier was bad. Ordered and replaced the rectifier but the gauges is messing up - when you turned on the bike, the gauge would turned on then turned off and stayed off. The shop now said it is the stator. Can someone give me an input on this? Is the shop correct? Or should I be worried that they may just be milking me, trying to find more issues when it could have been only one part that should have been replaced?

They are probably correct, although I would have expect them to figure it out in one shot. When the stator fries, it often takes the RR with it.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
