Fork Interchangeability 04 600

I have found a 2004 600 that I would like to use a trackday bike. Its a front end hit and the forks are a mess, frame is straight. I beleive they are 43mm dia forks. What other things do I need to be aware of or what bikes could I do a fork swap from? Your help is appreciated as usual !

You'll want to get TT600 or Speed Four forks. TT600's, supposedly, have slightly stiffer springs than S4s, so you may want to use your old ones if they are not damaged. (I say 'supposedly' because I swapped TT600 springs out for S4's and ended up with almost the exact preload for sage and comp and rebound settings for ride). Although Daytona 600/650 forks are the same diameter and I have heard they interchange, the part numbers for both inner and outer tubes are different, and I have not personal experience swapping between TT600/S4 and the 6/50 Daytonas.

We can blow this thread away. We have the gixxer front end swap on a 650, must be close to the same, I would assume?

I picked up a tt and the forks were a mess also. I loosened up the tree clamps and axle and everything popped back into place. I than took them out and indicated them and they were fine.

Not at all. A GSXR swap requires the use of the GSXR triple and a new set of headstock bearings. On top of that, you need either a GSXR wheel and aftermarket speedometer setup or axle and rotor spacers to make a liter-Triumph wheel fit so you can keep the stock speedometer drive (if wanted). Then you will need to modify the GSXR top triple clamp for an S4 handlebar or buy expensive adjustable clipons, as the GSXR ones will run into the instrument panel. So I wouldn't say they are 'close to the same', but it is doable.

In my opinion, and I think many track guys will agree, the stock fork setup is very good, and if you put some money into springs and valving, you'd have as good a front end as you'd probably need. I'm not criticizing swapping to inverted forks, but I cannot see too much of a performance advantage over the stock setup for a hobbyist racer--at least not for the time and money you'll put into it. If you are doing the swap just to do it, that's another thing in and of itself, outside of and exempt from criticism of benefits over cost.

Where do you get a set of forks for a tt (stock or retrofit) without blowing the budget?

eBay, an online classifieds (like ours), and local classifieds are the only ways to go if you don't want to pay dealership prices.

if the forks are bent your front axle is most likely bent as well. I just put a set of tt600 forks on an 05 daytona 650. they fit up with no problems.

This is what I was wondering, Thank you. I assumed they would but wanted a little better confirmation.
