Return to Bonneville Salt Flats w/ TT600 Turbo

The TT600 is on its way back to the Bonneville Salt Flats for another go at top speed on the Salt. Load the trailer and head out. The plan is to run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the BUB Speed Trials in the AMA 650 APS-BF class. Last year she did 162.47 mph and for this year there is the hope of upping that as much as possible.

Good luck! Family problems are keeping me from attending BUB this year, but I'll cheer for you anyway!

Salt Flats

Arrive late Sunday but just with just enough time to register and pass scrutineering. Today I made one run after a 3 hour wait in line (not much fun). It was a shake down run of 125 mph during which I found some issues to work on. Spent a few hours taking care of them and then the wind picked up so I decided to wait until Tuesday morning for another shake down run. If that goes well I will look to bump it up and see what the TT can do this year.

I will try and post a few pictures tomorrow night.

Well it makes the bike not wheelie all over the place.

I wonder how it went. Any updates?

jason britton couldnt wheelie a TT600 on the salt so that is not an issue. thats why I asked if it helped on the salt. I assume the guy drag races it as well thats why it extended.

As you've said, wheelies probably aren't an issue when land speed racing a motorcycle. The gearing is probably higher and the point isn't to beat a 1/4 mile time but to go a long distance, which allows for better control of the power down low to stay away from spinning the wheel. Although I'm not a land speed racer, I used to go to El Mirage dried lake in So. Calif. and watch my father tune some of his racecars. I know that a longer wheelbase makes for a more "stabilized" ride, especially on a motorcycle and at speeds above 100 mph. The salt isn't like taking a 160 mph cruise down the paved highway, but is a handful when racing, so any advantage of stability gives time slip and safety rewards.
