HELP! TT600 fuel pump relay clicking on/off rapidly!

i have a 02 plate TT600 with 16k,when i have the ignition turned on,the relay which goes to the fuel pump clicks on/off like mad. if i jam the relay shut the bike starts 1st time and will continue to run (although a bit rough). when the problem 1st occured i mistook it for a faulty fuel pump, after changing the pump i found the fault to be the relay. i have since renewed the relay but still it clicks on/off rapidly. it has been suggested to me that it maybe something to do with the rectifier and a ac current... the battery is new and fully charged, the bike will start first time if the relay (main power relay,i belive) is jammed shut, else it just clicks on/off which in turn makes the fuel pump prime on/off. i can jam the relay shut, start the bike but when i take the piece of paper out the relay she will just start her nonesense after a few seconds. to begin with the fault only occured occasionally but has since got worse to the pont where i cant really take her out the garage. i would be grateful for any sort of suggestions or help as this has me puzzled. thanks

Do you have an alarm fitted?
I had problems with relays clicking and found the connectors that the alarm plugs into under the seat were all corroded. After a clean and grease of the connectors its never happened again. although my alarm was also intermittently going off for no reason as well

Im sorry to hear about all this trouble over a relay. I once went through the same ordeal but with a faulty spark plug (dont they check them before sending these things out?!?)

On the plus side, at least you know everything else is working fine now that you triple check everything
