How to run the Wiring Behind the Forks/Steering Head Etc?

Well it looks like the TT600 we have is going to be pressed into street service next week, though our plan had been to make a track day bike, but this should work out well as we can get it running properly before spending hard earned money on a track day where we may end up tuning, not riding...

I had removed the forks to do the steering head bearings on this bike and I should have taken a picture of the bike without fairings, as I now have no idea where the various bits of wiring had been running, and tied down.

Anyone help me here?

There's all those junctions on the right side behind the forks, and with those and the clutch cable running through there, it doesn't look right.

I think some of the wiring was tied to the intake tubes with nylon ties I cut off, but there's no guarantee that's the way it was supposed to be, is it?

Does anyone have a picture of their unfaired bike showing how the wiring and cable is best run?

Any help is appreciated.

BTW, I do have the factory manual and it is of some help, but a picture or two would save a thousand words.

If you are running fairings, it really doesn't make much difference how the wiring loom is run. The factory loom exits the chassis on the side of/atop the right side of the cylinder head and the connectors hang under the intake tube. The looms that run up to the instrument panel, headlight, and hand controls are attached to the forks via a black circular clip on each fork. The clutch cable runs through a wire ring that attaches to the upper right headlight mounting bracket bolt. The throttle cable works well running behind the ignition switch.

I don't have any good pictures. On my TT600, I found that zip-tying the wiring loom to the right intake tube worked well. The most important thing is to make sure no wires bind, stop you from getting the full turning radius, and that none get caught between the fork stop and chassis.

Thanks for this - I did go ahead and get the bike together over the weekend, finishing today. It's waiting for a safety check, insurance and plate, probably this week. I can hardly wait!

I had initially tried to run the main wiring loom inside the right fork tube, up against the steering head but it looked messy and made the steering harder than it needed to be, so I moved it all outside the fork tube, tie wrapped to the intake tube, and all is well now.

Your description is useful as it confirms that what I did is likely the right way to do it.

Thanks again.
