TT600 fan stays on for ages
The fan on my 2002 TT600 comes on as it should at about 100 degrees, cools the bike down nicely etc. My only problem with it is that when I finish a ride and the bike is hot, I turn the engine off but the fan comes on and says on for 5 mins or more. I'm starting to get sick of arriving at bike meets and getting comments..it's quite loud and people love to point out the fan's on...it's still on...hey mate your bike still hasnt turned off..etc etc. I'm not sure if it's my imagination but as time goes on it seems to stay on for longer than ever.
Is this maybe down to a faulty sensor somewhere?

Both of mine did the same thing. I would tell people the intake nozzles double as a shop vac when I wasn't riding it, since it sounds just like a vacuum cleaner.
I can't say how long the fan stayed on, but it seemed like a very long time. It probably wasn't, but because it was so loud, it was noticeable and embarrassing.

They do that. Makes for nice conversation starter.... Shouldn't be a problem as long as it goes of eventually.

ya know, mine used to do that too. but i took it to the shop for some twittling w/ the FI and it hasn't done it since.
It would turn on @ 213 degrees (F), and shut-off once it hit 195ish. Now it goes on @ 220 and shuts off @ 200.
BUT, I had to switch to a coolant called EngineIce to actually cool down while idling @ a light. Before that the temp would just keep climbing. Actually saw 230 once, but not anymore.

i know this is about a TT but i would almost think the d6 would do this aswell? i only ask cause i wonder every time i stop and all my friends bikes (yamaha's, kawasaki's, ducati's, etc etc) seem to continue to run the fan after shutoff when hot. my d6 doesn't which kind of bugs me considering it can be as hot as 106 celsius and the fan comes on at 103. i normally run the bike until the fan shuts off which is about 102 or 101. but if i don't have the time then i shut it down at whatever and if im comming back to it then its upwards of 110.
call me crazy? i am just a bit concerned.

My fan stays on for ages, doesn't bother me and is the reason you are supposed to disconnect the battery anytime you are working near the fan blades in bike or car

That's funny. My TT is really loud. Will I may have to use your line.
Cheers.

The same thing happens with my TT600. It never did for months, then I loaded a new ECM map and the fan started staying on after the engine was turned off. Some sort of bug I guess. I found out that if you shut the engine off with the ignition and then turn the ignition back on and let it cycle, the fan will stay off. I’d be interested to see if it works for others.[/font]

A friend of mine bought a used S4 and his fan would stay on forever. it was his 1st FI / watercooled bike.
My S3 fan would shut off much quicker than his. Finally one day he asks which way my fan blows air...towards the forks or FROM the forks towards the engine.
strange question bit I tell him from the forks to the engine.
guess what.. his fan was wired backwards from the factory! he pulled it reversed the wiring and Viola' his fan cuts off in a minute or 2 like it should. and his temp gauge never goes to 225 F anymore
