Please!!help me Start my 03 speed four!!

Hi there, if ANYONE can help me with this i will worship the ground you walk on.. I have been battling with this bike for way tooo long! I bought my 2003 speed four from a guy who had layed it down and done some body damage, nothing serious just some scratches. I bought it to fix it up but have NEVER been able to get it running! im baffled. ok. WHen i got it , it had no gauges but I found some on ebay (for the exact same bike, in very good condition) and pluged them in. When i turn the key on I have power to the lights front and rear , turn signals work, i have a light on in my speedo, but NO digital readout whatsoever in the gauges, and not even a buzz when i press the starter button. I ve checked all the switches, ie: clutch, kickstand, and the bike is in neutral but i have noticed that the neutral light is not coming on..Where is the neutral switch and can I check it? Also, the horn doesnt work , which i thought strange and i hear no whine of the fuel system, nothing.. All my fuses are good and the relays seem fine. I did notice when checking power to the fuse labeled with a motor that there was no power there, is that not normal? This bike is very new and probably has done less than 5000 k, everything is very clean.

If anyone out there has a clue..please drop me a line! Im am getting very desperate!

The main fuse is OK? I kinda doubt it. Or maybe there's a faulty connection. Sorry to be so vague.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Is the main fuse with the rest of them in the fuse box? They all look good. but the fuse labeled with a picture of an engine, a 15 amp fuse doesnt have power when the key is on (on either side of the fuse)

I don't remember, but I think there's a 20 amp fuse somewhere else. I don't have a schematic any more. If it's not a fuse, then you have a bad connection or broken wire somewhere. It's going to be a complete pain to find, but it's what I can think of.

What about the tip-over switch? Have you check that?

I found the tip over switch and I took it apart to have a look in, it looks ok. Is there a way I can test it? does anyone know where the neutral switch is located?

Suggest you start by getting the factory manual which can be ordered by a dealer or via Bikebandit. Get a good "Logic probe" type circuit tester with a 12v DC facility from an electrical wholesaler and with it start tracing the circuit with power on starting from the battery.
The manual will have comprehensive circuit diagrams inc colour coding which are easy to follow. This will allow you to eliminate basic wiring problems. Particularly look for things like the tilt switch, prop stand sensor, neutral switch, clutch contacts fuses etc. If you are not comfortable doing this any good car auto-electrician should be able check it out but will need the manual to do a proper job.

Checking the wiring circuit part by part is a time consuming job but there is really no way round it.

If the circuit checks out but still no joy then you will need to get the bike to a dealer for a diagnostic check.

Good luck
