any suggestions on removing the front wheel off an S4.
Also, how can you do it w/o a pitbull stand?

I think my valve is leaking since I have a brand new tire that goes flat every week. All the Tri. dealers are to far away, and i figure I should know how to do these things.

in uk a tyre replacement place will sort the valve - you dont need a specialist bike shop!

IMHO removing & successfully replacing a tubeless tyre (tire) is bluddy hard without an industrial strength air compressor (and some mean 2ft tyre levers)

You'll need a 17mm hex head socket for the front axle. Conveniently, this is the same size as the transmission drain plug on old air cooled Volkswagens, so many car parts stores sell a cheap "VW drain plug tool" that will do the trick.

Tires and valve stems aren't unique to Triumph. Any shop should be able to help you with them.

That same 17mm hex key also fits the drain plug for some Audi and BMW cars as well. That might be useful if you don't live in a place that is as infested with VW driving old hippies as out here.

It gets easier and easier the more often you do it. First, never use a tire iron longer than your hand... it's too easy to chip or break the rim... Use lots of lubricant, I use the Hondaline spray cleaner, it works like magic. The cheapest of air compressors is sufficient... anything that can supply 40 pounds of pressure will do. In my opinion the key to tire changing is how you hold the wheel while doing it: I used to use an old pickle bucket, and that worked ok, but when I bought a proper stand, the whole operation became trivial.

I don't think I want to mess w/ removing tires from rims. The tire is brand new so it must be the valve stem. The leak losses pressure just as it did before the new tire.

I read that for a Sprint you have to remove the brake calipers. Just by looking there should be no reason to remove anything but the axle and bolts. Right??

How do you keep the front end up?

My turn to ask the question

Has anyone found a good way to raise the front end - I want to lube & adjust the headraces.

okay
a front stand....... :hammer:

but I want to have the steering head free to turn so I can check the headrace adjustment. If you have a front stand which allows that ..
a) I am impressed
b) where did you get it?

Pit Bull makes one, Vortex makes one. Probably others. They have a pin that goes into the bottom of the headstock. You can pull the fork tubes with no problems. I don't know if the friction from the pin would foul up headrace adjustments or not since I don't have the tools to do that just yet. I suppose you could always hang the bike from the rafters. That is how I do things like changing the rear shock.
