For those of you in the Seattle area that have your Triumphs serviced at Lynnwood Cycle Barn, who (in your opinion) is the best tech there?

I'm looking for the guy I can call with questions without the answer being "come bring it in and we'll look at it..."

Perry is excellent if you can get ahold of him. He doesn't rush his work, so budget some extra time. I don't know if you can call Cycle Barn and talk directly to him, though. You may have to go there and try to catch him. They had another tech that they hired away from I90, but I don't recall his name. There was a rumor that he went back to I90, but I don't know about that, either.

The service writers typically don't have a lot of technical information, and they are the people that you talk to if you just call the service department at most dealerships including Cycle Barn.

Most of the time, but especially in the summer, the techs don't have a whole lot of time to answer questions unless they are actually working on your bike at the time. I am guessing that this is true of just about every dealer. If you have a good idea about what you want to ask, so that they can answer quickly, you will get better information.

I bought my bike there, and at the 500 mile service, I had a few questions about some of the carb adjustments. Perry came out and talked to me, listened to the problem, and took the time to explain exactly what he did and why. I was happy, anyway.

I have also heard that he is one of the most knowledgable Triumph techs in the state. Word on the street, anyway.

Plus they detailed my bike to showroom condition without any extra charge.

The other Triumph tech at Cycle Barn is Scott Zoellers, and he has not left! Both of them are outstanding techs and very nice people as well. As a Cycle Barn employee and a Triumph owner, I have had my 2003 ST Sprint worked on by both of them and really couldn't give you a preference. They are both excellent.
On around the 1st of June both will be moving to the new Lynnwood Cycle Barn, which will be a mile further north on Highway 99 and will house the Honda, Kawasaki, and Triumph lines. The Triumph section of the new showroom will be huge and very, very, cool.
The current location will become Harley-Davidson of Seattle at that time.
As I will be out of town for the next ten days I will not be able to respond to any questions, answers, or cute quips this post creates, so please do not think me rude!

I couldn't remember Scott's name. I would trust him completely with my bike as well, and I am happy that he is still with Cycle Barn. As I recall, he rides a tricked out TT600.

Scott Zollars was the man behind I-90 Motorsports race 885 Daytona.
That bike dominated the Formula Thunder class at Pacific Raceway for four years.

Also he was involved with Jack Lilleys highly successful 595 Daytona. I think it was the first British bike to win a National in Eighteen years?

I know first hand that Scott is an expert with fuel injection,
electronics, motors and fabrication.

Can't comment on Perry or the Cycle Barn, but everything
I have read is good.

Bart.

Just what the fellow who gets paid to work wants; people calling for free advice.

When people call and try to pick my brain on the phone, I politely tell them my hourly rates and offer to send over an agreement.

Give the guy a break and go offer him some dough. He can't feed his family on free advice.

Just took my bike in to Cycle Barn due to an idle problem, (it quit running at stoplights, long story). Scott worked on it for me. Found the problem, it was a defective fuse, and he also adjsuted, cleaned and balanced the carbs. Bike runs like a top now, I was very happy. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks on the receipt like I wasn't charged extra for thr carb work.

My only complaint was that it took a couple days for my bike to get her turn, but I think thats pretty standard at this time of year, no matter where you go!
