Personally that's what in part constitutes a good dealer, one that is secure enough to help me out without rifling thru' my pockets for a dime - ignoring the dollar. If a Triumph dealer can fix for me over the phone a simple but niggling problem, without me spending half a day on a Saturday at his store, let alone a week day - with a bit of good advice - I'll, chances are pass on his good name more readily than have him waste my time for a dime - He'll get the bucks thru' his good will and some grass roots advertising. I'm the customer and always right, dealers need to woo me and cut me a break - 'cos I've got a family to feed as well - if one dealer won't help I'll find another 'til they prove to me that they are worthy. Then and only then, will I give them my time and bucks - that is of course assuming I can't do it myself. There is an old adage :-... "they've got the money son, and it's your job to get it from them"... that shinola don't work with me, I'm not a friggin' charity.

You hit the nail on the head Trypcil! That's the exact kind of shop I'm looking for and I think I found it at Cycle Barn...just looking for confirmation from others.

For example last summer, I was out on a ride (far from home/dealer) when the digital speedo crapped out and the "engine management light" came on. As this is my first Triumph and I knew of their past electrical problems, I immediately pulled over and called my dealer (Cycle Barn) for advice. The bike was running fine otherwise, but I just wanted to know if it would be fine to ride it back home without causing further/any damage.

I explained the problem to Perry and he recommended that I check for a loose battery connection and if that didn't fix the problem, to bring it up and they'd run a diagnostic check. Sure enough, the battery terminals were loose (fixed the speedo issue), but the EML stayed on. I took it in and was without my bike for a couple days (the line at the computer was long), and cost me an hours labor, but they cleared out the fault code and downloaded the latest tune.

As someone who is very familiar with techs both automotive and bike I would say that a lot of what yu experience comes from the attitude and approach you present going in.

When I have had a problem talking to a tech, I just tell him I don't understand and apoligize and ask to speak to another that could get through my head. (Dave Preston can vouch for that).

Cycle Barn has always shown me and my America the best service. Give them a chance.
