What experience have folks had purchasing and servicing at different dealers in the upper midwest?

Minnesota only has two dealers. Wisconsin has a handful as does Iowa. What's the feedback?

I've purchased new Triumphs from Sindt's in Dubuque, IA and Weber's in Waterloo, IA. I personally like both shops for sales of new bikes.

Gary Sindt is a good guy. Will give a fair deal but does not like to negotiate. Triumphs are not his bread and butter either. He sells Honda (tons of 4-wheelers), Yamaha, Kawasaki and a few Ducatis. Not as impressed with his service dept. Scratched my bodywork removing fasteners on the first service. Had trouble getting right injection mapping.

Weber's is my local dealer. My buddy and I run the local Rat Pack. They are all really good guys. Sales, service, parts/acc. Even when I bought my '99 ST from Sindt, Weber's continued to give me the discount on parts and accessories as if I bought the bike from them. For sales, ask for Travis. He's putting the deal together on my new 2005 Sprint ST.

I've heard good things about Team Triumph in WI as well. Partied with the owner at Rat Raids. Passionate about the brand.

Hope this helps. These are just my personal experiences. Yours may vary.

youse guys got a Rat Pack up there in Waterloo?? I bought my Triumph from Gina's BMW/Triumph in coralville Iowa, they dropped Triumph right after that.. been dealing with Gary in Dubuque, for service and parts..might try the Waterloo dealer next time. Gary is a ok guy but tough to deal with when buying new..low balled me on my 98 tbs on a trade for a speedmaster, so we didn't deal..I just can;t beleive they don't have a dealer here in the quad-cities.. if they did I might buy another one, but right now it looks like I'll be selling the TBS and going with a new Sporty..just for the dealership thing..I really don't like going over 100 miles for a dealer and play their hurry up and wait thing. last service I had done I had to trailer my bike 100 miles and leave it, go back a week later for it and trailer it home..bummer

Check out Team Triumph of Wisconsin (877-896-6910) in Janesville, WI. It's one of only four (4) exclusive Triumph Dealers in the USA. Todd and Darcie Ligman (the owners) are great. Very good to deal with and very helpful (I ask a lot of questions). I just bought a 2000 Tiger from them (it was on consignment) and it was purchased new at the dealership. They have done all the work on the bike and it appears that they did a great job. Browse their website at www.rideteamtriumph.com, a lot of good technical and sales information.

I don't have a local dealer, and use Team Triumph in Wisconsin for mail order parts, clothing, etc. four or five times a year.

They are fantastic on the phone and will find what you need right away, and send it without delay.

Cheers,
Ken

My local dealer is Sindt Motor Sales in Dubuque, IA. I read some previous posts that said Gary was hard to deal with. I bout my 04 RS brand new with no trade. So there wasn't any dealing so I can't comment on that. I also received the $1000 discount Triumph was offering. When it was all said and done my new RS cost me $6200. Everything I buy through him I recieve a discount on. I imagine most dealers do that though.
The biggest thing Gary helped me with was getting me my license. I didn't have my motorcycle license when I first came to him. After I got my permit he let me take one of his bikes and practice in his lot for a while. The next morning he came in early (before they opened on a Saturday) and loaded the bike onto one of his trucks and sent me off to take my test. Needless to say he made that process much easier than it would of been since I didn't have too many other ptions.
Someone mentioned before also that he wasn't big into Triumph. If they mean he doesn't have as many Triumph on hand as he does other brands they are right. However, Gary is a Triumph freak! It may be almost borderline too much. :-D He drives Triumphs himself and has been knowledgeble on everything I have needed, Triumh or not. I am looking at buying another bike this fall or next spring and unless something major changes it will be bought at Sindt's. If Gary has his way it will be a Daytona, but I really like the R6 so we'll see.
With all this being said, everyone's experience is different. I have had great luck, service, and a great relationship with Gary and his staff. I can't and won't promise everyone else will, but I just wanted to get it out that I am very happy with my local dealer. I am also not saying that any negative or neutral experiences posted by others didn't or can't happen. The best thing to do is go in and try them out for yourself.

Its a bit outa the way but... The crew at Ma's cycle in Fargo ND(triumph, ktm, ducati). Were extremely nice to me and my wife whenever we went there. When I was chasing a sprint one of the owners friends let me ride his ST that he had just ridden in. It was for sale but high $$ and miles. Not exactly what I needed but sold me on Triumph. Have since bought my daytona and moved back to wisconsin.(where there are corners!!)

Not sure what to think about my local dealer (Shoreline Powersports in Kenosha) yet. First time I was in there they were extremely rude. Second time, not-so-bad. Janesville, milwaukee, and chicago each have dealers and are not that far away. Have yet to make it to Team Triumph when they have been open, but have only heard good about there.

Was at motoprimo last fall (pre daytona) they were nice, but a bit spendy. Had a beautiful carryover ST on the floor. It was tempting.
