Hermys
I bought my bike from Hermys Triumph in Port Clinton, Pa. I will never buy a bike anywhere else. I bought my 05 Thruxton from them and a few months later I totaled the bike, not fun. They took the pile of scrap that used to be my bike and traded it, my ins check for a brand new one which arrived just in time for me to start riding again. And he arranged it with the credit union so that my financing was only $.20 more a month. Thats what a dealership should be. I dont have any experience with the service department cuz my bike has never needed any service. I do my own oil changes and basic maintenence. Anyone in eastern PA has probably heard of them. If you havn't check them out.

I have not yet been satisfied with a dealer experience. I am not hard to please. Take care of my bike and be fair about it. Paying 90 bucks an hour, I feel like I should be getting a lot for my money! I have dealt with four dealers so far in three different states. Only one of them had me at hello, and they shut down recently! One of them quoted me one price for an 8000 mile service, then called me when they were done and told me the price. It was more than twice what they quoted me. No warning at all. The other time I scheduled an appoinment to fix two recalls, drove 200 miles, waited there two hours, and they told me they didn't have the part. I have just about given up. I realize there is very little customer service left in the world, and dealers are in business to make money. They don't really care about you or your bike. They want your money, period. Very dissapointing. However, I have found dealing with Triumph of North America to be very pleasant. No problems. I dream of the day when I will walk into a dealership and actually walk out of there satisfied. Wish me luck.

I like my dealer, but I don't understand why I can make a service appointment several weeks in advance to have the cam cover gasket replaced under warranty, then when I bring the bike in, be told that he'll have to order the gasket and keep the bike for a week until the gasket comes in. The whole point of making the appointment was to give him time to get the gasket.
I don't get it. I understand that he has to pay for the part until the repair is made, but this is a cheap gasket for a known problem that will definitely be covered by the warranty. And it wouldn't hurt for him to keep one or two of them in stock anyway.

It seems to me someone has been telling you tall tales.

Hi Guys, this is my first time posting here.
I recently bent the gearchange shaft on my 2005 Bonneville. This is the shaft that the gear shifter connects to. My local dealer tells me that the part is "unavailable". What's that supposed to mean? My bike isn't even 3 years old and I can't get a part for it??? The dealer tells me that he has a long list of backordered parts and can't get Triumph to send him any of the parts on the list. Can this be true? Is there a huge problem with getting parts from Triumph?
I also own a 2005 Harley Davidson Dyna Lowrider. When I need a part for my Harley it usually takes no more than 3 days to get it. What the heck is up with Triumph??? All I can say is, I love my Bonneville but if getting parts for it is going to be a hassle I may have to sell it and never buy another Triumph again.
Do you think the dealer is telling me the truth, or is he just pissed that I'm doing the repairs myself? Because if the Triumph dealer network has a problem with me working on my own bike they're going to have to get over it because NOBODY TOUCHES MY BIKE BUT ME...
Anyone else have a problem getting parts for thier bike from the dealer?
Thanks.

Try Bike Bandit, Baxter Cycle, PJs, or Hermy's. These last three are dealers known for stocking parts and for good support.
Telling you the part is "unavailable" is not an acceptable answer. Typical wait time to get a part is two weeks, since most of the dealers stock almost nothing and have to order from Triumph.
"Can't get Triumph to send him any parts." He should be able to provide a better explanation than that.

Baxter has no problem getting parts for my 1996 S3, and they usually take less than a week to arrive.

A dealership that treats its customers like trash deserves to go under. Having said that, the good dealerships are so few and far between it makes one have a little more patience with the few rotten apples. It becomes a vicious self-perpetuating circle.

When I had a problem dealing with a dealership, Triumph cust serv went to bat for me, and made everything right with me. I was pleased with Triumph's corporate response to me.
A dealer I have never had trouble with is Southern powersports in Chattanooga, TN.
