Triumph making the wrong bikes
I have a 96 thunderbird and I would like another Triumph. The thing is,there is nothing in the current range that I like. The new Tiger is great, well It is If you ride one up.I talked to one of the guys at the uk bike show about it.I said "please tell someone at the top,I have the money, but you have no bikes ".My point,is it just me,or are they making the wrong bikes?

An updated Thunderbird with fuel injection and a Trophy would fill the gaps.

Triumph Line
I would be all over another Trophy 1200 - this time w/ shaft or even belt drive and ABS.

It is certain that the classics sector became quite void when they changed our triples for the two-cylinder but I donīt think Triumph is wrong focusing the market. The advent of the affordable jewel Street Triple has put the sector upside down and they are going to have a lot of work producing this model. It must be contagious because from my beloved Legend I canīt help looking eagerly this magnificent motorbike which in my opinion is the most consistent bike made lately. Greetings.

They're following the demands from the market. While we are enthusiasts for the Triumph Triples, the overall demand just wasn't there or they'd have never stopped making them.
Besides, I like having a bike that most people have never seen. Of course they mostly see mine from behind!

Your right BigAl8295, I have spoken to Bruno at Triumph in depth about Triumphs bike range. It is really interesting the way Triumph research the market place, which bikes to produce and why. They cannot afford to compete against Honda and co in some bike classes in financial terms so they concentrate at thier achilles heel. One reason why the four cylinder was dropped. After all Triumph are there to make a profit, unlike the short sightedness of Meriden! Each year Triumph make more in roads into the global bike market, size for size are now more profitable than the likes of Honda and co. Yes enjoy the past but also the present

Triumph is simply making the bikes that people buy, plain and simple. Financially it makes the most sense, their four's didn't compete, so they got rid of them, the twins sell better than the classic triples, no matter how good their praises were in their day. It's not as simple as designing a bike, they have to design a bike that people will buy, the more the better. While we may love our triples, they didn't appeal to everyone, so bottom line, they can't operate on a loss, so they did what worked.

They still make the Bonneville for those who are nostalgic.

IMNSHO the Bonneville is a gutless POS. My old 750 Bonny went better than the new ones.
