Faith restored and some trust regained

If you have been following my 12k saga (http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-for...t-part2-a.html) today was confrontation day at the offending dealer. I took my evidence (filthy air filter and some crappy plugs) and receipt, walk in and headed straight to the top guy, I really did not want to fool around with a manger that would most likely get advice from the owner anyhow. I presented my case in this manner, I told the owner I just wanted to bring to his attention what kind of work is coming out of his shop and that was all, I even said I didn't want anything out of this. His reaction was one of true concern and relief that I did come back in. He proceeds to inform me that the tech that completed the service had more than a few complaints from other customers for shotty workmanship. Next he walks me into the shop area to meet one of two new techs he has hired to bring up the level of service on our bikes. This gentlemen has more than 15 years experience turning wrenches on motorcycle engines, all of which are the various euro brands. Next was a pleasant surprise, the owner tells me that early next week I WILL get a call from the service manager to make arrangements for bringing the bike in to have the service re-done at no charge to me!!! YEAH.
I would like to thank all those level headed gents on our forum whose advice to take the high road and not become irrate and throw out some colorful words worked to a "T". The old addage is true you get more bees with honey than sh*t.

I love it when things work out. Savor the moment. Plus it seems to save you from having to travel extra distance for what should be standard work. A win-win. Wotta concept. Now that dealer went from being nearly black-listed to showing some real integrity when handling a legitimate grievance.

As Big DaveM might say, "Good on ya mate."

Glad it worked out.

Well done VWtriple,
I am very pleased for you, congratulations.
Hopefully you will now be able to develop a lasting positive relationship with both the tech and the shop.

Onya sport!

Way to go - result all round, the shop gets real feedback on its work and gets the chance to improve. You get your problems resolved !
Bet they remember you at the next service

VWTriple,

I've never taken my bike there, but I've ridden a few times with their RAT guys.

Anyway, the shop I go to here in DC is kind of a basket case. I will only let one tech work on the bike. If it has to sit till he can get to it, so be it. I really like the guy and he is incredible around these motors.

I find it frustrating that service sucks pretty much everywhere in this region. I've heard of stories from the Baltimore dealership, Winchester, VA, yours, and of course my dealership in Clinton, MD.

Unless it's broke, a valve adjust, fork oil change, or the chain&sprocket, I'll do the routine work.

I'm glad the owner worked with you. What can you do with a small motorcycle company. We can only go to one dealer in our area. If we lived in the mid-west, some guys local Triumph dealer is 200 miles away.

Phite, I have read the roller coaster ride you've gone throught with Clinton. I am greatful atleast I have choices of dealerships to use, but in my older age I want to try and give people the benefit of the doubt, if I were younger and closer to my college football playing weight (270lbs) and strength I might have just made an ass out of myself to drive the point home. But the truth and fact of the matter is I need a good dealer to take care of items beyond what you listed, like down loading a tune when I get my TORS or hopefully Tridents, or if I forget that it's lefty loosey and crack my oil pan just changing the oil
I just missed meeting you on the last ride out to skyline, Gene said you guys cut short prior to coming into Warrenton, hey maybe next time. Keep it shiney side up.

I'm glad it worked out for you WV and for your dealer as well. I've found that the approach that you used generally works best. I use anger as a a last resort type of tool.

I got screwed on my 12K service but I am in the process of rectifying the matter with Triumph corporate and the dealer. It appears Triumph will come through with a satisfactory response to my "discovery" of their unacceptable work . I will report when this matter is resolved.

Glad that it all worked out for you in the end. Maybe you should make an addition to your other thread in case others do a search and see the earlier comments.

Good job keeping your cool..
