So, here's the deal ......... a out-of-state dealer has an unsold '03 Trophy 1200 . He wants $410.4K for it w/ two year warranty . What can he reasonably expect to get for it ?! I REALLY like the bike, even tho I'll have to do some aftermarket purchases (bar risers, maybe) to make it fit good .
Presently mounted on '96 Adventurer which I took to Montana from the U.P. of Michigan on a Lewis & Clark historical campout . Great machine ! Nice setup for non-paved roads . However, I want a nice, reasonably priced sport tourer for the wind protection . I'll keep my Adventurer, of course !

in 03 that bikes msrp was just about 12k....so 10.4k is close to cost on the unit, if not below...im gonna guess that it wont go much below 10 grand for the unit at best.

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
The point is it depends largely on what the dealer has into it. If they got it from Triumph at full price then they are unlikely to go any lower than 10k. The holdovers on cycletrader with lower prices are likely to be from dealers who have obtained left over stock at discounted prices from Triumph.

You may get lucky in using this as a lever, but I doubt very much that a dealer would sell to you at a loss - they woudl be better letting it sit and wait for somebody who will pay a little more for it.

That is a difficult situation.

According the Kelly Blue Book, the retail value of that bike (in my ZIP Code) is $8850.00.

The bike is new, but if I went to that dealer, bought it, put it on my trailer and dragged it home - with almost no miles on it; that's what it would be worth (retail) if it was immediately put back on a dealer floor in Arkansas.

The trade-in value is worse, $5950.

I'm always one to say that money isn't everything, but it depends on what your threshold is.

I paid $11.9k for my '02 with the $500. in accessories deal a few years ago. You might get him down to $10.k but I wouldn't expect much less than that.

For what it's worth, my opinion is that it's a very good bike, and $10,400 is $1500 off list all ready. There aren't too many new Trophys around anymore, If I wanted the bike I'd step up and pay for it before someone else does.

Another thing to consider is you want the dealer on your side if you buy the bike and have a warranty issue, or even service scheduling, being the cheapskate that squeezed every nickel he could out of him isn't going to win you any favors.
