2008 bonnies in oz all wrong !!!

so am in the market for a new black bonnie....an efi one just like the models that are availible to uk customers.( in the dealerships uk now )
but all i get from the dealers in oz ( all over oz ) is " yeah we got the 2008 bonnies, big tank models " " ho efi...nah not till next year "
now why would i buy a brand new carby model when the efi model is about to come out......
why cant triumph sort out their distribution of efi models....or at the very least update their triumph oz website....or at the very very least explain why the people who buy their product and keep them in business have to wait and wait for a model that is availible now in another country ( uk ).
euro3...i want to do my bit for the emissions...but a carby model just wont do it.
come on oz dealers ask triumph for the new models instead of rolling over taking it and waiting until triump give them to you...put in the extra effort.
" go your own way" they mean buy what we supply and shut up !
this really is a poor show by triumph

my local triumph dealer just last saturday tried to tell me that an 2007 model S3 was an 08 model. his justification was that it had a hand written sticker on the headlight with 08 and had just arrived. i suggested he do his job properly and keep up to date with the triumph website. no five spoke wheels on an 08 speedy di*khead!!

Just a question to both of you, did your dealers tell you that both those bikes where both made in Thailand not England? Only the English made bonnie range has efi and they only sell them too the European market?

2008 bonnies all wrong for oz!

my dealer did tell me that all triumph motorcycles had their parts built in hinkley uk and were assembled in thailand.....( for oz market bikes )
but how hard is it to ship the efi modules and bolt them on?
they seemed to have managed to have bolted on the new bigger tank ( designed to hold the fuel pump for efi ).
so why not go the whole distance and give the oz market the same as euro market ?
all am asking for at the very least a reason behind this marketing ploy?

Maybe it's just as simple as using up old stock of the carbs. Or maybe because the Asian market gets the carbs as well there may be some thoughts as to weather the poorer asian countries are geared up to service/ adjust efi ... just guessing

"now why would i buy a brand new carby model when the efi model is about to come out......"

Because they are earier to modify and adjust. I don't mind EFI if you do not plan any mods. I personally prefer carbs because I had mods planned for the bike. I recently changed the Exhaust and needed to rejet. I did that at home. If I had EFI I woud need special equipment to remap.

geehaw,
i understand you can do alot of mods at home with a carby....but efi is not that hard to work with.
after you buy a contoller, and clip it into your loom, you usually have a data lead so you can download any engine profile from the net....and your good to go....no screw adjusting for different altitudes or cold / hot days its down automatically.
less mechanical parts = less parts to wear out ?
lets face it times change, and change for the better most times?
nobody watches black and white tv,s anymore ( am sure black and white tv,s work fine )but efi is a better system, just like disc,s are better than drums.
also i spoke to gary macdonnel today at the sydney bike show (oz dealer development manager )he in formed me that oz is always the last to get new stuff, and there is probably quite a bit of older carby stuff still to sell ?

i am not saying the carby bike is not a good bike it is and will probably be getting a secondhand one till the new one is availible.
am just a bit annoyed that oz has to wait for stuff that is already availible to the poms ! ( i can say this because i am a pom )

You're doing the only thing that could possibly influence Triumph's corporate decision makers. You're choosing to hold off buying a new bike until you can get what you want. If enough people do the same, I'm betting that the '09 EFI Bonnies will be on the showroom floors by June '08. & as an added bonus, there'll be plenty of heavilly discounted carby models, for those of us who don't care. So whatever model you'd like to buy, I'd advise holding off until the end of our financial year, to try & force Triumph's hand.
BTW I heard that all the Classic Range are now fully made & assembled in Thailand, for all world markets. So if that's an issue for you, you'd best look for another bike. I think the triples are still made in Hinkley, but even they've got Thai bits in them.

2008 oz bonnies all wrong !

spot on old scratcher, its exactley what i am doing, holding off my purchase, and hoping my buying power will help tirumph get there act together.

they have obviously done their marketing research and it must be cost effective to them to hold the bikes off......but i am seriously looking at buying a ducati 1000 biposto, am due to take one for a test drive on the 24th nov at an open day, and if i buy i will not be buying another bike next june/july.....so this = triumph sale lost ? sad really

i mean triumph oz still dont have there website updated yet, there still showing 2006 bikes?
