Question San Antonio, Texas

I was told by a fellow Triumph rider that a new Tri dealer will be opening soon in San Antonio... he said it's already under construction. Anyone know the facts?

I have heard that rumours that the BMW dealer here is taking on Triumph, and they are building a new dealership. I will try to confirm that at the Harvest Classic tomorrow. Someone there should surely know..

If this is so, it's still quite a ride for us.. They are building up in Boerne, but it is atleast a little closer than LoneStar, and the few times I've visited their current location they did seem friendly and are really into building up bikes, cars, etc.. not just a boutique dealer as LoneStar seems to be.

Good News!! I just e-mailed Alamo BMW and received a reply below. The web site they listed is not up yet, but they do have http://www.alamobmw.com which shows their new building under contstruction.

"The rumors are true! Are you interested in a particular bike? Watch our website (www.alamospowersports.com) for grand opening details as we get closer. Looking to open in late Nov., early December"

That's excellent news Dave. Thanks for confirming that... you really made my day. Lone Star can kiss my ass goodbye now.

Opening for business 18 Dec 2007. Grand opening sometime this Spring.

"Dave, we'll be open for business at the new store on Dec. 18th, but probably won't have a grand opening until early Spring. We want to get all the kinks worked out first, but we will be open and have a great selection of bikes and apparel. Regards, Suzanne"

Cool... thanks once again Dave. If and when you find out exactly when their grand opening will be please be sure and let me know. I'd like to make it to their official opening and maybe I'll even see you there.

I called them today to get pricing for tires for my Speed Triple. They said they do not carry tires for Triumphs yet, and I should call back sometime after December 26th. Thought that tires were usually good for many different bikes. Especially since I read reviews of the tires I wanted on the BMW forum sites that specified that they use the size I needed. They didn't even ask to see what size I needed, or when I might need them. Oh well, I now plan to get them on the web and get them mounted and balanced from a friend here locally.

Has anyone been to this place yet? I am guessing they are open now. How are they?

I just rode up there today to check it out. It's a really nice dealership. You do have to keep an eye open for it. It only says ALAMO BMW MOTORPLEX on the sign you can se from the highway. The dealership is definitely a nice place! They're still setting up and getting parts inventoried and ready for sale, but it does look promising. I was not able to buy an oil filter today, but they promised everything would be order by next weekend. Like they're web site says, they also have a go-kart track on site which looked like alot of fun!

The guys there had actually never heard a set of TORs on a Rocket before. They have two stock Rockets in stock at the moment. So they were impressed to be able to actually hear a Rocket run instead of the silence of the stock mufflers. They also have a couple of Meriden Triumphs including a nice looking 500cc racer sitting up front.

Most of these guys have been into bikes, race cars and race karts for years. They had an awesome 427 Shelby Cobra replica race car sitting out front!.. Looks like after they get set up, we'll be in pretty good hands.
