Thanks for the input hankmarx. I'll be looking for an Ace-Boom Mechanic soon enough. My warranty will expire before next Summer, and I'll want a few things done that would probably void my most excellent factory coverage. South Austin would be closer.

If your talking about Randy, he's great. As long as Jeremy is working on Triumphs at Lone Star, I'll stay there. But I'd easily use Randy for service.
I'll be interested to hear what they do to make this up to you. Hopefully you'll be riding in time for the Harvest Classic.

Well I certainly wasn't the most popular guy at Lone Star on this day. I think maybe a few people had been chastised over the situation. But IMO they should have had a gasket in stock the first time (especially since the appointment was made 10 days in advance). And they definitely shouldn't have sent me home when it wasn't fixed right.
I received a new black cam cover installed with a fresh gasket all under warranty. I also had them install a 19-tooth counter-sprocket free of charge. They were willing to eat the 15 mins worth of labor but wanted $41.75 for the part. At that price it seemed like they weren't contributing much, if anything to the cause. After some negotiating with Peter, they ate the cost of the part also.
But Peter telling me that Triumph wouldn't even consider a small oil leak a problem and that I should consider it normal (after it's been fixed under warranty several times already) just doesn't sit well with me. It's about like telling me they're just getting tired of jacking with me. No doubt they probably are, but it goes both ways.

I really hope everything works out for you. I've just started to get the apparently patented "cam cover leak" and will be inquiring at the dealer out here about some warranty work. It scares me to think that LoneStar is getting this bad, After the first botch up on my work they offered to transport my bike both ways if I wanted. I usually had them pick it up (dropping it off feels too much like abandonment, the way she looks at me as I leave the shop) but pick it up so I can enjoy the 50-ish mile ride home. And they guy that picked up the bike was always prompt and called just before he got there to let me know he was inbound.

Sorry to hear that Cynr. Please let us know how they handle the leak on yours. After all the hassle I went through, I sure hope your dealer does a better job than Lone Star did on mine. From what I was told by Lone Star, they checked into it and found out that it is a fairly common problem on these bikes. Yea right... like they haven't sold enough Bonnevilles to know themselves.
To be forthcoming, I didn't give their guy a chance to come pick-up my bike. I called to schedule with him, and he blew up on the phone when I had to ask him twice "Is this Ken?", due to a bad cellular connection... and he was the only one using a cell phone. I don't care if he is "the man" when it comes to transporting bikes in Austin, as the guys at Lone Star put it. In truth, they probably already have a contract with him and are just stuck with him. But after he went psycho on me, I didn't want, or trust him to haul my bike the 60+ miles. I had visions of the guy getting pissed and driving like a madman with my bike in tow.

Ken was his name, was a little odd, but did great with my bike when he transported it. But definitely a little odd. I'll let everyone know what happens, my main issue is that the bike is my only transport so it's hard to schedule. I'll have to get it fixed before Christmas, I'm riding home, and I still need to get the jetting tightened up a little. We'll see.

I do ride through Seguin on occaision, so if you see a sky blue Rocket with flames, that's me..
I have visited Lone Star on several occaisions, but have never felt welcomed there. I called to make an appointment last summer to have a new fuel map loaded for my Rocket and they said it would be several weeks before they could fit me in. So, after figuring gas costs and time, I found a PC-III for $200 bucks and took care of it myself. Got done faster and runs great now! My bike is still under warranty and I would like dealer support as well as a dealer to suuport, but never felt comfortable there and I can take care of most mechanicals myself anyway.. and much faster than the dealer will get to it.
I know Whoa seems to lead a pretty active RAT pack out of there which is great!
Hopefully someone in San Antonio will take on Triumph again some time. Joe Harrison really did the brand no justice.
