Triumph sends out word of promotions well in advance by e-mail. There may be two things going on here, or more.
Possible answers to your questions
1. There are some dealers, still, who do not have e-mail. Incredible, but true.
2. Some dealers have e-mail but do not use it very much at all, and often do not check their own e-mail for customer questions, etc. This is, of course, a tremendous advantage to those dealers that do.
3. The biggest factor is that such promotions (from all the manufacturers) are usually offered to the dealer, not given to the dealer. There is usually some sort of obligation on the dealer, whether in money or units ordered or something else, and in some cases a dealer may choose to not take part. That is why in almost all promotions you will see that little tag "at participating dealers." If we were out of Bonnevilles and could not get any more, for example, it would make little sense to take part in a special Bonneville promotion. I do not recognize or recall this promotion, so I would imagine we chose not to participate as well.
I don't know why you were told that. It could be true. Might not be. I am sure Triumph would not want to share that information with you in any case.
